怕怕. That's princess favourite word. Every single little things she will say scared scared. Ask her we go visit Nova gor gor & Leo gor gor, she will pat her chest & say 怕怕. Ask her where's gong gong, she will pat her chest & say 怕怕.

Basically she's just getting the thrill out of saying cos we will give her attention. She just want to be the centre of everyone's attention.

Ok daddy is getting insecured about princess kaira. She's too sweet & pretty that boys are approaching her & giving her a kisss on the lips! She has lost her virgin kiss to a stanger officially last week at Plaza Singapura, outside the Make-A-Bear shop. We were waiting for daddy from his loo break and browsing outside the shop....suddenly this young punk (ard 5 or 6 years old) appear out of nowhere, saw princess kaira and smooch her on the lips! It was too sudden & too fast for mummy to react. Really not mummy's fault ok. After the act, Mr young punk ran off! The horrified thing was, princess kaira chased after him!!!!!!!

Shortly after that episode, princess kaira's modesty was outraged again. This time at Toa Payoh Central HDB Hub, right outside NTUC. We brought her to this virtual game mat where games will appear on the floor for you to play by stepping on it (such as pop corn game, snooker, ball car, etc). So we were there minding our own business then this little boy (age ard 2plus) approached her & wanted to hug her. OK hug we are fine. SO we just let him. But THAT hug became a peck on the forehead! Sensing something wasnt right, we quickly approach him and at the same moment, this kid was doing the kisss-the-lip act. You can tell man! Luckily daddy stopped it in time.

So I've concluded princess kaira has 桃花运. Good lukc to daddy. He will have a hard time in the future...

Our Bedtime story

my favourite time with little princess is bedtime. We get our own concert performance! She will sing along with mummy to songs like row row row your boat, mary has a little lamb, 三轮车，小手拉小手，小老鼠，twinkle twinkle little star, little john. Its our bedtime ritual after she took her milk.

Daddy? He's the only listener and mummy is sure he enjoys our singing as much as we enjoy it.

My FIL told us princess Kaira has a penchant for english language. She picks up faster and her spoken vocab is mainly english based such as bubble, mommy, daddy, star, "pen" aka Open and those mentioned in the earlier blog. Considered all of us speak to her mostly in mandarin, am surprised she's more comfortable in english. Her recent addict is Hi5! And those educational vcd like Baby can Read series.

wow my last update was 2months ago! Ok mummy has been real busy with her moonlighting. Its an online jewellery business (all DIY pieces done by mummy) which I've yet to launch ;p Still underway...

Mmm princess kaira is 16 months this Nov 19th and only one BIG word to describe - SUPER NAUGHTY!! Ok make that 2 words. She's strong-willed (aka bad temper,stubborn), impatient and "en orh". And boy does she knows face reading! When your tone is harsher or display displeasure, she will immediately "switched" to a smiling face and try to make up for her wrong-doings by give you a kiss. When she wants me to carry, I'll ask her to say "bao1 bao1" and she just refused. She will wailed to get her way. Sigh.

When she's not showing her "evil twin sister" Kaira can be really sweet. Look at the picture! Such an angel....shhh its the devil's horns hidding underneth those pony tails!

Aiyo she's going to get out of hand! My FIL temper & spoilt by my MIL. Not sure which is the lesser evil... Definately going to buy cane & place them at every corner of the house. She's a boy's soul in a girl's body. That's it! Am stopping at 1.

another baluku

seem the only time i update this blog is when my princess hurt herself. Well she did it again.
This time is all in the name of love.

well mummy wasnt around cos was busy running errands for the next exhibition at expo this weekend. Daddy was incharged of princess at granny's plc (both of us was on leave for a family day). OK so why was love the culprit?! Well its seemed princess wanted to play with Leo gor gor and both were so sweet hugging each other when Leo lost his balance....both toppled over with kaira being the sandbag....well and the end-result = kaira hitting on her head. Thankgod & to console ourselves, her baby doctor just confirmed her skull has hardened.

ok mummy gota admit am pretty anal about princess kaira getting enough sleep.
I will be pissed if princess is not getting at least 10 hours of sleep each night cos she will throw tantrum the next day. And my PIL will suffer.

And to make matters worse, my MIL will give in to her every whims!

sigh. Time to buy cane.

Exactly at 12pm on 23 Aug 08, she took her 1st few punny steps. It was a hilarious scene for she was screaming with outstretch arms while taking few precious steps towards me & daddy.

ok princess Kaira is a late bloomer in walking. Leo gor gor started walking exactly at 12months! But my princess can only stand un-aided. sigh. But talk she winner! She can even say her own name!

Think I should start her 1st 100 words compilation. Mmm....at 13th months, her baby dictionary includes - papa, mama, car, ball, bear, duck, kaira, nana (loosely translate as banana), there, no more, ne-ne (loosely translate as milk).

granny's cure

Recently discovered some unorthodox methods for curing illness.

Fever: use 白米酒 to dap the accupoints ie; the neck & forehead.
Likewise drink lots of sugar water & NO milk.
Flu/cough: apply tea tree oil on sole of feet & cover with socks.
NO fish.


Well believer it or not, these does work.

love love love

Love is a BIG word. Really. I do not fully comprehand this word until I become a mum. I never ever imagine I am capable of giving such love until I turn one. Love in the diguise of sacifice, of patience, of endurance, of strength and of bravery. Well this I discovered lately (rather 2 days back) when Princess Kaira was down with flu. Seeing how much discomfort she was going through, especially at night, that I did the unthinkable - sucking the mucus out from her nose.

And yes I will do it again.

This has made me appreciate my own parents more.

My 1st Birthday

Finally THE day has arrived, after much anticipation. 1st birthday so gota make it a grand affair, no less. We ordered buffet from uncle Elaric (famous for his mee siam, curry puff & salad prawn..yummy) and 2kg birthday cake from eCake (located at woodlands). Well the cake looks nicer than it taste...what to expect at such a steal - $82 include delivery.

gosh! Princess Kaira has fallen sick TWICE this month! 1st round is self medication for it's just simple fever (still duno what caused it). And now its HIGH fever bordering at 38-39 degree! All thanks to Leo gor gor...got the flu bug from him on wed when they played together and it magnifested into fever, flu & cough. Well I guess this is what they say about playgroup. The kids take Q number to fall sick. Inevitable. So mummy rushed back from work to bring Princess visit the crazy doc. Good gracious it was a short visit and me & my MIL were spared the toruture of listening to more crap from him.

So poor mummy gota sarifice her sleep and monitor princess throughout the night...anyways just had the fever pill inserted into her arsehole.

growing up...11 month!

what can princess kaira do at 11 month?! ah. The little rascal is learning to walk! Ok not exactly walk walk. Just standing un-aided on her own and with a little bait. Doing great. Slow but steady.

Beside her non stop rambling (yes can forsee a VERY talkative girl in class. Boy am gonna be busy going for teacher-parent session), she is also practising her 一指功. Up down here there this that.

As for her personality, there are streaks of stubborness/preserverance. Don't see her fierce fierce, but she's actually pretty timid. Aeroplane, balloon, sudden noise/sound (like fart), dog barking...these will make her cry. She is so 姑娘.

MEN-struation

my FIL had his menstruation. And trust me its not gonna be the last of it.
Really he's a crazy old man. He got mad at my MIL cos she shouted at him for playing eagle & hen game on the stairway with Kaira.

Common, playing at staircase??!! Is he out of his mind??!!

What happened next was a family meeting. Agenda? About how stressful looking after a kid was, cannot everything leave it to the 2 old people to do, everyone gota do his/her part in the household chores, how the monthly allowance wasn't enough....the list went on. I was really pissed but I didn't commented/rebuted for I promised hubby I'll keep my mouth shut. "Just let the o'man have his piece". BUt some of the thing which the o'man said was pretty ugly that hubby also cannot ta han. So the brothers had a meeting and decided on 2 things - up the monthly allowance to 2.2 grand and I will bring Kaira over to granny's place every Friday. So now she gets to visit her maternal grandparents and all the aunties/uncles 3 times per week! (Wed, Fri & Sun)

oh did I mention my princess adore watching news? Well actually its the newscaster that she love. The top on the list is Ch8 Good Morning Singapore Miss QiQi. How do I put them in words... Its like love at 1st sight...pure joy.

Gosh I need to find QiQi's pictures and enlarged it. So incase of those under-the-weather situation, tah dah! QiQi to save the day!

My princess just took her virgin trip on Saturday, 7th Jun 2008. Daddy and princess visited me at my work place (happened to be Singapore Expo cos Mummy was helping out at the Motherhood Fair). SO wat trip was it? Actually its her 1st MRT and Bus ride. keke.

Being the pampered Singaporean kids of present time, there's hardly a chance for princess kaira to go on a bus ride or train ride since there's the luxury of a car.

Well with the success of her virgin public trip, there's more in the pipeline.

Leo Gor Gor Turn 1 year-old!!

Decided to put my artistic flair into use and made my little nephew his 1st bday present :)

Well it only took me 30mins to complete. 是美的lor.

Some updates

Its been more than 2 weeks since my last input... and it has been really exciting! For one, princess kaira took her very 1st studio shot! And I love those pics! My godma needed a model for her baby road show in June so my princess have to "sacrifice" for the good cause. keke. Actually this is the 1st time we manage to catch her smiling so brilliant on film...proudly showing off her 2 front teeth. And she has made me a happy mummy :)









2ndly, I think she has made all the grannys happy too! As it was Mother's Day on 11th May, mummy took the opportunity to use Kaira as the focus for making the mother's day card. Mummy used kaira's foot to imprint on the card and then drew a flower on it. Well due to limited time & resources, it was the best mummy can do... but mission accomplished!

My nephew, Nova is in town for 2months. Although he's here, his mum (my sis) and younger brother, Leo, are still in Malaysia. So during this period, my mum will looked after him.

When princess kaira 1st saw him, she was sooo happy! My princess is definately NOT boy-craze. She just loves dogs and little children. Just like she adored her little uncle, 4 year-old Bryan. She will start chatting to them in her baby language, looked at them with big adoring eyes and spread out her hands, wanting to hug them.

So sweet right? I also say.

ahem. 1 2 3.....DO RE ME FA SO LA TI DO

hehe this is my routine for princess everynight. And my audience - princess Kaira & poor daddy. They have been hearing the same old songs every single night for the past 3 months ;p

I decided to set a routine for princess for it helps to prepare her for sleeptime. And frankly it works. Everytime I'll set her down on the pillows, with milk in hand and I'll sing to the song - DO RE ME from "Sound of Music". She will open her mouth, suck her milk and slowly drift off.

So poor daddy, in the meantime, will have to endure til princess kaira grows older and need not require mummy to pat her to sleep.

monkey see monkey do

the other day i was trying to find things to keep Princess occupied for she was in one of her cranky moods (lack of sleep definately). After ransacking her cupboard, I found a plastic cup. To entertain her I decided to make some echo sound at the opening of the cup.

Surprise surprise. Being a curious girl, Princess snatched the cup from my hands and started imitating the same sound! Disbeliving it, I tried the trick again. And she repeated the action.

By then I was laughing my head off.

Princess is now at 74cm tall and weigh 8.5kg and at 9 months-old. 3 more months to 1 year-old!
Mmm lets see where should I order her cake? What design? What flavour?

things looking good

Its been consecutively 2 weeks that we dumped Princess at my granny's place and head straight to the theatre for our couple bonding (or should I say 3-hour getaway?). And it seems this move has help improved princess relationship with my maternal side (aunties, granny, my own parents!). At least Princess does not wail or show displeasure when they want to carry her. However she does choose people such as NO-NO for 5th Uncle and 9th Uncle, luke-warm for my dad and 6th Aunt. She's pretty excited to see my little cousin tho', which is her 4-year-old Xiao Biao Jiu!

Not that am complaining that Princess is glued to both daddy and mummy, however its super sticky that we do need a breather! Especially during meals time...

So I guess this escapade will continue for as long as it last...

SHREK!!!!!!!!!!!

Been wanting to post these cute little pictures of Princess with the Shrek ears. McDonalds was doing a promotion with the Shrek3 theatre launch last year and I purchased a pair of ears for charity at $2 each. I gave 1 to Bryan and the other I kept til now.

Princess looked so adorable wearing it and I think she secretly likes it! haa haa

Once we put it on her favourite Ling Ling (its short form of darling, named by my FIL for her Doo Doo plush tortoise) and she immediately took it off ling ling!! Ha ha she knows its her property and no one (not even her "best friend") can wear it!

My 1st Tooth

I've contacted the 1st-timer-proud-mummy syndrome. I was so obsessed in getting a picture of my princess 1st tooth that I purposely made her cry so I can snap a quick pic of it! Call me crazy but I felt a great sense of accomplishment.

I believe she's one of the few fast little ones where their 1st tooth not only pops out at the bottom gum but at the top gum too! No wonder she had a hard time (3 days of fever!)

Oops I did it again

I did mentioned in earlier posting that getting bruises is part and parcel of growing up. But it seems Princess is knocking herself up on a regular basis.

This time, she got herself a bruised left eye, on a Friday night. AND its under my PIL vigilent eyes! (apparently hit again the warerobe knob in my PIL room) ha ha ha. Not that I'm being evil here. Common, my FIL harshly reprimended us on her 1st fall. Blamed us for not dedicating 24-hour security watch on her. SO this time what happened to his 24-hour security watch?

I don't blame them for the accident for it will not be called accident right? [an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; casualty; mishap].

What I cannot tahan is my FIL tried to turned the tables, voicing his concerned on princess safety at my granny's place. Said he's worried about her getting hurt and we need to be extra x3 at my granny's. Hey this is insulting man. My granny side also worried about whether Kaira is in good hands too under their care...

What can I say? What can I say?

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands!

Ok this is long overdue. By the time I post this, princess kaira knows how to clap her hands (loud and clear) for 2 weeks!

Now the 1st thing she does when she wakes up is clap clap clap her hands.
And when she's happy she will clap hands too. How clever!

Interesting when babies learn a new trick, they will practice and practice until perfection. Then they moved on to the next new trick. So now we are teaching her "bao bao" and "pah pah" (loosely translated as tummy full and scared, repsectively)...currently its more miss than hit (give wrong signal lah) haa haa

i need a break

I seriously thought princess is going back to her normal self today considering her display of usual chirpy self yesterday evening. Her fever has subsided (last measured was 37.1 degree) and she's actually asking for food.

But alas, Rashes Outbreak!


Well its a good sign to have the breakout for it shows the toxic is being splurged out from her body (goodness gracious can a 8-month baby be THAT toxic?!). REALLY can someone take pity on mummy!!! I'm having serious serious lack of sleep for the past 3 nights and I was thinking to myself "Mmm..finally I can take a good break". sigh. My wishful thinking. She has been whinning throughout the night.... and by the break of dawn, she will only sleep on your shoulders!


To ease our mind (it looks like measles), we made another trip to the West Point clinic doctor (Dr Chuang) and the diagnosed is ROSEOLA aka Baby Measles. The symptom (usually) - 3 days high fever afterwhich the breakout of rashes. The cure - lots of water. The rashes will disappear within 2 days. The damage - $20.

Lesson #1: Never plan your day with a baby around. Let the baby plan your day.

So today mummy is stuck at home with a still-sick baby. There goes my Sunday. Please can someone come up with a Motherhood Survival Guide.

Docter doctor are you in?

March is such a happening month.
1stly is the falling from the bed and now my princess has fallen sick.

Why must babies fall sick when they are spotting their 1st tooth?

That's precisely the reason for princess kaira's fever, throat and backside infection. Her fever was at a high of 38.5 degree when my parents-in-law brought her to the nearby Gek Poh Centre clinic. For 2 bottles of medication and 1 buttock cream, her medical bill sum up to $45! When did a trip to the doctor became so expensive? Damn the inflation.

She could barely eat, 1/2 her usual chirpy self and serious lack of sleep. During her ordeal, it was both physically and emotionally draining for the whole family. Everything that she used to like or enjoy has became her instant dislike. Like bathing, crawling and eating. She's in no mood for nothing! She whines, cry, show her displeasure at EVERY single opportunity! She refused to be put to bed no matter how tired and would only fell asleep on your shoulder while you carry her.

Seeing how the fever still persist, bordering between high of 37 and low of 38, we brought her to another doctor. This trip costed us $63! But the medication worked (thank god!). By doctor's order, princess lived solely on sugar-water (1 teaspoon of white sugar with 100ml of water). No plain water (for it will washed away her existing nutrients), no wheat, no milk, no solid, no nuts and bathe at least 3 times a day (my MIL was saying NO bathing! Bless the doc soul for his instructions). Basically she's on liquid meal all the way until her fever subside.

Princess has lost 3 kg out of this illness and what a way to spend the Easter Holiday! Unforgetable...

Well the best thing that came out of this bitter-sweet phase -> princess kaira 1st tooth has finally arrived! I spotted a jagged white edge on the gum surface...

I pray this stage will end quickly, hopefully over the next 2days or so (I need a good massage! Bangkok here I come....)

Ouch!

My poor darling princess fell from the bed again.

And this time there's blood for she hurt her upper lip! * heart ache*

It happened at 7.15am on a supposedly-beautiful Sunday (16th Mar 2008). As usual she's being her crawly self and both daddy & mummy were super tired, so we didnt realised little mischevious princess was crawling towards the end of the bed (where its not protected!!). She woke us up from our grogginess with her loud cry.

This being her 2nd fall, we didn't panick but rather our reaction was - shit how to break the news to my in-laws...

The 1st time wasn't a pleasent experience thus both mummy & daddy schemed and agreed to tell white lies. Ha ha. Daddy cooked up a scenario saying princess hit her lips on the bed frame when she slipped while trying to stand. And they totally bought the story. *Phew*

My Haven

Unbelivable. Its a 1st case I know (& its my very own household!) that uses an inflatable swimming pool (bought from Toy R Us for only $27.90) as a playpen!

Yes I do have a proper playpen at home which was a Baby Shower gift. And is now a white elephant collecting dust at the guest room.

To my in-laws, this swimming-poool-converted-playpen is the safest and sensible place to keep my princess safe without stringent supervision (trust me I've tried to persuade them to open the but they refused to use the playpen saying my little princess wont like it cos she'll feel claustrophobic. What rubbish.)

Anyways it seems likes a Haven to my little princess.
The bottomline is - whatever makes her happy.

oh dear my princess face is scared!!!! All thanks to the blood-sucking mosquitoes!!
Its the whole family foe, forever and ever.

Who to blame?? the house that is not kept clean thus attracted the mosquitoes or the culprit - mosquitoe which has RIP.

Why do I say she is scared? It has been proven that an insect bite will leave it's mark for a long time on her skin, it will not heal :( (on her tighs and hands)

My poor princess....the Miss Singapore crown is yours no more. *sob*

Aint she a fast learner

Did I mention my princess kaira knows how to suck on a straw?! Mmm when did we discover this...lets see...2 weeks back or even 3 perhaps. Not sure, but her favourite pasttime now is sucking on yakult. ha ha. Just stock up the fridge on it this evening.

I need to take a picture of her sucking from the little elephant water bottle, a present which aunty elaine gave for her 1st christmas in 2007... otherwise no more presents from aunty elaine in future!!

A Momument day - 12 Feb 2008

A day i'll never forget...it happened at night in our bedroom prolly ard 9.30pm. It was so fast both daddy & mummy is now still amazed at her speed....all it took was less than 20sec and *wham bang* she's on the floor! This is princess Kaira's very 1st fall... and I believe there's more the come lah.

Common, which kid grew up escaping a bump here & a knock there, right? Well I must admit mummy's heart nearly jump out upon seeing her face-down on the floor... 1st thought was "not on the face!!!" But thanks to lady lucky, guardian angel, whatever god there is, princess suffered only a minor bump on her left head.

So I guess besides her 1st bump, it was also her 1st day she migrated to sleeping on the floor. Guess w.e.f 12 Feb, she will be on her 1st step towards independence ie; sleeping alone.

Another 1st is princess 1st bite on french fries! All kids love it and she's no exception..& there's proof to it! haha We went to Relish restaurant with my mum, sis & her elder son, Nova together with daddy, mummy & Kaira. She took carrot soup, 4 big fat fries, bit of bread and 180ml of milk! What an eater..

Mirror Mirror on the wall who's the fairest of all?!

I do believe my princess is a vain pox. She loveeeeeeeeeeeee looking into the mirror & talking to her own reflection!!! The video is THE proof...

This was taken at her 1st hotel stay @ Novotel on 3rd Feb 2008... mummy's 30th bday gift form 6th Auntie. Both mummy & daddy enjoyed the stayed tremendously...relaxed, peaceful and great way to family bonding :) looking forward to another hotel stay...

We found a way to distract & keep her entertained - get the princess a mirror! It works immediately.

Ever since she learned this trick (duno from who & where lah) she has been doing it at EVERY opportunity! When she opened her eyes 1st thing in the morning, at shopping centres, at BBQ... ok I must admit it has provided great entertainment to everyone :)
